I-CORE, the official student publication of CGCI, secured seven major awards at the 24th Regional Higher Education Press Conference (RHEPC) held at Palm Cabanas, Arayat, Pampanga.

The publication’s magazine 'CARDENAS' led the victories, earning 2nd Place in Best Photos, 6th Place in Opinion and Editorial, 9th Place in Development Communication (DevComm) and Feature Pages. Meanwhile, its literary folio 'PUKAW' garnered 8th Place in Best Visual Arts, adding to the publication’s growing list of regional recognitions.

In individual competitions, Beiman Ashley Samonte placed 5th in Photojournalism (Filipino), qualifying for the Luzon-Wide Higher Education Press Conference (LHEPC), where he will represent CGCI and Region III. Dev Rohan Quirino also delivered a commendable performance, finishing 6th in Poetry Writing.

I-CORE’s delegation also included Christian Sembrano, Kimberly Quitlong, Norine Talplacido, Alfred Dweyn Ramos, Melanie Eugenio, and Angel Hyne Ibrao, all of whom compete in various events.

Notably, I-CORE stood as the only student publication from San Jose City to compete at the regional level and will continue its distinction in the Luzon-wide competition.

The publication’s victories were the result of collaborative efforts from probationary members to regular staffers, reflecting a unified commitment to excellence in campus journalism.

Dr. Danilo S. Vargas, School President, and Ms. Aimee H. Ordinario, Head of the Finance and Accounting Office, warmly congratulated the team upon their return to campus.

Guided by adviser Ms. Hanieline V. Emana, the publication’s achievements at the 24th RHEPC underscore its dedication to excellence in campus journalism and its continued rise in higher education press competitions.

Congratulations, CGCIans!
